"Having a strong grounding in Islamic jurisprudence as a result of studying over 10 years [1979-1989] in England's First & oldest Islamic seminary [Darul-oom Al Arabiyya Al Islamiyya, Holcombe, Bury] Makes Yasin a qualified Imam who is regarded as an 'authority' on Islamic issues upon which he is regularly consulted. He has served the Muslim community for over 13 years in a variety of roles. Spiritually he has lectured, lead prayers and successfully co-ordinated Muslim youth activities in his capacity as Imam of Telford Central Mosque. He has made significant contributions to the educational realm by being appointed as the Telford council's Islamic education consultant and helped to formulate the 'Study of Islam' component of the Religious Education Curriculum which was to be implemented in local schools. On the subject of education Yasin has been actively involved for over 12 years as a co-ordinator of Islamic awareness activities in schools across Shropshire which took the form of assemblies, R.E. lessons & mosque visits. Since 1995 he has extended his counselling and spiritual guidance to local hospitals and prisons focusing on Muslim patients and inmates. His vision to educate young Muslims with 'the true message of Islam' lead to the creation of [The Al-haqqaniyya Islamic Education Trust] an Islamic supplementary school which he has successfully expanded over the last 10 years. Overall Yasin's Wealth of Islamic knowledge [on a theoretical level] coupled with his community work spanning a total of 18 years [on a practical level] serve a rare combination which will undoubtedly benefit many." |
